  I   Check In   II   Unit: Body Integration Theme: Rhythm Drumming   Introduction Rhythm can be defined as a strong, regular, repeated pattern of movement or sound. Drumming is defined as a continuous rhythmic sound. Thus, rhythm and drumming put together could be described as a strong continuous rhythmic sound with a repeated pattern of movement or sound. Trudi Schoop idea of using rhythm and drumming with people with schizophrenia helped clients to develop a sense of body limits. As clients experience cathexis, their sense of body parts becomes satisfactory.     I    Unit: Body Integration Theme: Urban Funk Dance II Introduction Street dance is an umbrella term for a large number of social dance styles such as: breakdancing, popping, locking, house dance, waacking, voguing etc. According to guest teacher Zedric Bembry, Urban Funk comes from African and street moves.  So that was professionalized and accepted. At first it was called buddy music because strippers used to dance to it. Base drums, percussion, and a mix of all things thrown in. Psychiatric Patients: Patricia Capello

  I   Unit: Psychiatric Patients Theme: Patricia Capello   Introduction  Patricia P. Capello was a Senior Dance/Movement Therapist and Acting Team Leader for the Therapeutic Activities Service at Maimonides. Ms. Capello currently is Associate Chair of the ADTA's International Panel and trains and supervises students in DMT with a specialty in Psychiatry. Her methodology is uniquely hers. She uses pop songs to stimulate her clients movement expression. She combines dance with lyrics that have meaning and connect those who are familiar with the songs.
