Theme: Urban Funk Dance

Introduction

Street dance is an umbrella term for a large number of social dance styles such as: breakdancing, popping, locking, house dance, waacking, voguing etc.

According to guest teacher Zedric Bembry, Urban Funk comes from African and street moves.  So that was professionalized and accepted. At first it was called buddy music because strippers used to dance to it. Base drums, percussion, and a mix of all things thrown in. Once it was professionalized, it was accepted as hall music.
